In the event of a tie, there will be a three hole put off on the practice green with the midget putter. The player with the lowest number of midget strokes after three holes is declared the Phallus/Tankard winner.
If your tee shot is out of bounds or you believe it may be lost, you have two options:
Option A: Play a provisional ball from the tee. This will be your 3rd shot.
Option B: Walk to where you believe your ball crossed out of bounds or was lost, drop a ball there, add two penalty strokes, and play your 4th shot.
If a shot from the fairway, rough or anywhere else goes out of bounds or is believed to be lost, walk to where you believe the ball crossed out of bounds or was lost, drop a ball there, add two penalty strokes on top of the strokes you made, and continue play.
If you believe your ball is lost or out of bounds and take a drop, but then find your original ball after hitting another
Please use common sense and keep play moving.
Any putt inside the length of your putter shaft (excluding the grip) is automatically considered holed.
No need to putt these out unless you want to. If you try to put it and miss (when it's a gimmie), don't worry, it's still considered holed.
You only need to mark your ball on the green if:
If you're lining your ball up, either:
If you accidentally ground your club behind or next to the ball before playing your shot, don't worry.
Just play on. No penalty.
If you accidentally move your ball while removing a loose twig, leaf, stone or other loose natural object, simply play the ball from where it comes to rest.
No penalty.
If you accidentally tap or move your ball by an inch, while addressing it or preparing to play your shot, simply play it from where it comes to rest.
No penalty.
If your ball finishes in a divot in the fairway, you may move it up to 6 inches, no nearer the hole, to give yourself a better lie.
If your ball is on a cart path or gravel path, or the path interferes with your stance or swing, you receive free relief.
Take the nearest point of complete relief (no nearer the hole) and drop within one club length.
No penalty.
If an immovable man-made object (such as a bin, sprinkler head, distance marker, drain cover, bench or fixed sign) interferes with your stance or swing, you receive free relief.
Take the nearest point of complete relief (no nearer the hole) and drop within one club length.
No penalty.
If your ball accidentally hits another player's ball on the green, there is no penalty.
Replace the ball that was moved as close as possible to where it originally lay and continue play.
Play when you're ready, provided it's safe to do so.
There's no need to wait for the player furthest from the hole if you're ready first.
Please keep pace with the group in front.
Don't spend too long searching for balls (2 minutes) or reading putts. If you're unsure, use the Ruthven Rules, keep moving and enjoy the day.
If something unusual happens that isn't covered above, agree the fairest outcome with your playing partners.
Most importantly, enjoy the day, have a laugh, and remember that the stories from The Ruthven Cup are often better than the scores.
Good luck to everyone, and may the best golfers win. ๐๐ป
